A guide for travellers in Saudi Arabia

Temporary flight bookings and travel plans: what is the difference?

If you are looking for a temporary flight booking or flight and hotel documents for a visa application, first identify the document requested. A travel plan, a supplier reservation and an issued ticket are different documents. Here is what each means and what to check.

Understanding the document types

01

Flight itinerary

A document organising routes, dates and passenger details. It does not reserve a seat or create a PNR in an airline system.

02

Temporary flight reservation

A reservation created by a travel supplier, with a status, reference and validity period subject to its terms. A document or reference alone is not verification.

03

Airline ticket

A document issued by a carrier or authorised provider following ticket issuance. It differs from a fare quote or a reservation held before ticketing.

04

Stay plan and hotel confirmation

A stay plan organises hotel details and dates. A booking confirmation comes from the hotel or booking provider after an actual reservation is created.

Before preparing visa application documents

Check the destination’s official document checklist for your circumstances. If a verifiable reservation is requested, obtain it from the airline, hotel or authorised provider; a travel plan does not replace it. RIHALI does not issue visas or guarantee acceptance of a document or application.

Your flight and hotel document checklist

For travellers departing Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam or other Saudi cities, accurate documents start with the correct airport and consistent flight and stay details.

  1. Passenger name

Match the spelling to the passport and check the passport number if provided. Do not share these details in a general support question.

  2. Airports and route

Check departure and arrival airports and their codes, especially where a city has multiple airports.

  3. Dates and time zones

Review outbound and return dates and local connection times. Check for arrival on the following day.

  4. Hotel details

Check the property name, address, arrival and departure dates, nights, rooms and guest count.

  5. Prices and validity

Flight or hotel prices are separate from document preparation fees. Check the price source and, when booking with a supplier, the reservation status and terms.

  6. Language and final copy

Review the preview before approval and download your Arabic or English copy. Keep the original supplier confirmation if you have a reservation.
